Take a midday break tomorrow and join us for Wednesday’s FREE Noon Music in May concert at Stowe Community Church!

This week, we welcome world-renowned pianist, Diana Fanning, to the Stowe Performing Arts Stage! Her carefully curated program weaves together Boulanger’s garden impressions, Janáček’s evocative autobiographical pieces, Chopin’s masterful, sparkling Ballade, and Villa-Lobos’s colorful doll portraits. Experience these musical gems brought to life with clarity and feeling in our resonant acoustic space.

All Noon Music in May concerts are presented free of charge with support from the Family of Irene Bareau, Stowe Community Church, and Green Mountain Inn.

This week, we welcome the incomparable Katherine Winterstein and Sarah Bob to the Stowe Performing Arts Stage!

The performance opens with selections from Bach’s vibrant E major Partita for solo violin before transitioning to contemporary composer Charles Shadle’s evocative “Choctaw Animals” suite for solo piano. The musicians then unite for Jennifer Higdon’s dreamlike “Nocturne” and Ruth Crawford Seeger’s pioneering four-movement Sonata for violin and piano. The concert concludes with Messiaen’s transcendent “Louange à l’Immortalité de Jésus” from his profound “Quartet for the End of Time,” offering audiences a journey through Baroque brilliance, American innovation, and mystical contemplation.

The concert, conducted by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director Andrew Crust, celebrates the works of American composers.
