SING ALONG WITH THE UKULULUS – You read it correctly! The Ukululus are six singing, ukulele-playing women from the North Shore of Massachusetts. Their repertoire is varied and will appeal to young and “mature” alike. There is just one catch: THEY NEED YOU! There will be song sheets, so you can sing along with them AND your children and grandchildren. Please come to this slightly different show!  Bring your parents; bring your grandkids; bring your neighbors!

In Summer 2014, the two founding members of the Ukululus were at a local talent show in Maine when the final act came on stage — 25 people with ukuleles. They played. They sang. The founders turned to one another and said, “We can do that!” They bought ukuleles and started teaching themselves to play. They had such fun, they asked a few friends to join them, and the Ukululus were born. Fortunately, one is a retired music teacher, another is a retired church musician, five sing in the auditioned chamber chorus Cantemus on Boston’s North Shore, and two are yoga instructors who teach the group how to breathe and keep calm. The usual sing-along venues are senior centers, nursing homes, assisted living, retirement communities — and the occasional summer gazebo concert!

The Ukululus are: Emily Keough, Claire Cayot, Anne Maguire, Priscilla March, Mary Hargraves, and Susan Nash. Donations go to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, in memory of one of the co-founders, Deb Twining.

FREE! No tickets required.
