We are delighted to welcome Heliand Consort for the first time to Noon Music in May on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Performing on this concert are Katie Oprea, Oboe; Elisabeth LeBlanc, Clarinet; Gerald Lanoue, Bassoon; and Cynthia Huard, Piano.

Heliand Consort’s program, “Echoes of Springtime Past – Chamber Music for Winds and Piano,” features early works by Glinka and Poulenc, evoking the youthful spirit of spring.

Heliand Consort is a dynamic group of virtuoso musicians who perform engaging classical music, from the baroque era through 20th century and contemporary repertoire. The core ensemble includes flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and piano. Each season they appear in a variety of configurations for winds and piano, and frequently feature guest artists.

Hailed for their passionate performances of classical music, Heliand Consort has appeared live on VPR Classical and WGDR, given interviews on WCVT, and has twice been selected as a Pick of the Week by Seven Days.  The Times-Argus described their recent piano sextet performance as “substantial and musically rewarding.”

‘Heliand’ is Old Saxon for healing power; helianthus means sunflower. Heliand Consort strives to bring light, joy and healing to the lives of their listeners, through the visceral experience of hearing great, live music.

The new ticketing system will be functional within the next ten days. With this system, you will have the option of printing your tickets at home. This cost-saving measure will allow us to spend more money on artists in the future.

Contributions received prior to April 25th (when the program guide went to press) have been acknowledged in the 2017 guide.  Season tickets will be mailed on June 1st.

As you probably know, ticket sales do not cover the costs of presenting the fabulous artists that you have come to expect from Stowe Performing Arts. Please consider a generous donation today. The fundraising campaign will continue until July 1st.  We welcome your donation of any size. Contributions will be acknowledged in the 2018 guide.
